Soap Stone Nova Scotia came about during our search for soapstone in North America. We have been carving for several years, even before we came to Canada. In Europe finding good quality stone was never a problem and it was readily available in various quality’s and colours. This is the main reason why we started to serve the Maritimes. Creating elements that are free of obstruction and have their own identity has been a passion I enjoyed over the past 3 decades. Sculpture to me is not limited to stone, it goes beyond that. I see industrial design, architectural buildings, massive parks as samples, to me they are as powerful as the hidden character that rises out of a stone. Time and time again to feel, to see the rising of an element out of a stone, that has been captured for millions of years is empowering. It makes you feel wise, strong and in harmony with the elements.
